Summer celebrations at West Downs

Families at West Downs Day Nursery in Winchester were delighted to come together for a fun-filled Summer Fair, all while raising £320.00 for The Sick Children’s Trust.

The event saw children, colleagues and parents from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ setting on Romsey Road enjoy an exciting range of activities, using tokens to take part in games and experiences including pin the tail on the monkey, hook-a-duck, jewellery making, balloon animals, face painting, temporary tattoos and a special gem hunt.

The celebrations continued in the West Downs disco party room, where families danced the day away, while children were also treated to an extra special science show, sparking curiosity and excitement through hands-on experiments and discoveries.

As part of the festivities, West Downs’ talented chef Rosana prepared delicious hot dogs, cupcakes and fresh fruit for families to enjoy, while Charlotte delighted parents and colleagues with her homemade iced coffees to help keep cool in the sunshine.

The £320.00 raised by West Downs families and colleagues will now be donated to The Sick Children’s Trust. The charity provide ‘Homes from Home’ for families with seriously ill children receiving hospital treatment, allowing them to stay close when they need it most.

West Downs Deputy Manager, Danni Markwick explained;

“Our Summer Fair was such a fantastic day, and there was truly something for everyone to enjoy. We’re incredibly grateful to our parents and colleagues for their unwavering support and generosity in helping us raise money for such a worthy cause. Knowing that the funds raised will help families stay close to their seriously ill children during some of the most difficult times in their lives makes the event even more meaningful.”
