Exploring bubble play at Grasshoppers Day Nursery
Children from Grasshoppers Day Nursery in St Albans were delighted to take their messy play to new levels as practitioners introduced a bubble machine to activities.
After creating the mixture using warm water and washing up liquid, children from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on York Road watched on in delight as the stream of bubbles was produced. To further the experience, the group then experimented by adding colour to the bubbles and creating masterpieces on paper.
Grasshoppers Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Monika Kelly explained;
“Bubble play is not only an exciting activity for the children, but offers a range of benefits such as developing a better understanding of how things work. This also presents a brilliant opportunity to incorporate descriptive language and improve mathematical skills by measuring the mixture and discussing the shapes created.”
