Celebrations were well underway at Emscote House Day Nursery in Leamington Spa as children and colleagues marked National Storytelling Week with a series of activities.
At the award-winning setting on Warwick Place, pre-schoolers were delighted to share their favourite books with friends, as well as exploring story sacks, character puppets, themed tuff trays and role play games to bring the tales to life and spark further learning opportunities.
As part of the festivities, children enjoyed a dress-up day, coming to nursery as their favourite characters, from The Tiger Who Came to Tea to Spiderman. This included a special face painting fundraiser, which helped raise over £100.00 for The Sick Children’s Trust.
The money raised will help the charity provide families with a warm, welcoming place to stay when their child is seriously ill in hospital. Without this vital support, many families would face long journeys, sleepless nights in hospital chairs, or the cost of expensive hotel stays.
Emscote House Business Administrator, Becca Jeffs explained;
“National Storytelling Week helped support children’s language development and confidence, giving them the opportunity to express ideas, build listening skills and develop a love of books in a fun and engaging way. The activities also encouraged teamwork and curiosity, as children worked together to re-tell beloved tales and invent ones of their own.”
Emscote House have adopted The Sick Children’s Trust for a year-long fundraising drive.
