Emscote House make a splash for fish’s fifth birthday

Celebrations were well underway at Emscote House Day Nursery in Leamington Spa as children and colleagues celebrated the fifth birthday of their beloved pet fish, Bob.

At the setting on Warwick Place, pre-schoolers were inspired to ‘dive into five’ with a range of under the sea inspired activities, including a special dress up day, fish-themed party games, and the creation of handmade birthday cards and art to express their creativity.

As part of the occasion, children delved into favourite storybooks including ‘Rainbow Fish’ and enjoyed a slice of birthday cake made by their talented Nursery Chef, before exploring their interest in sea creatures further through a variety of co-research activities.

Emscote House Deputy Manager, Lilly Bradley explained;

“The children had a fantastic time celebrating Bob’s birthday, and this provided lots of lovely learning opportunities. Having a nursery pet brings so many wonderful benefits, like teaching our little ones responsibility and care for living creatures. Next week we’ll be building on this focus by learning all about water pollution and the effect it has on marine life.”

It is for such activities that Emscote House have been awarded a prestigious Green Flag with Distinction from Eco-Schools, for exceptional environmental and conservation efforts.
