Devonshire Day Nursery celebrate World Book Day

Winnie the Pooh, 101 Dalmatians and Room on the Broom were just some of the beloved books that inspired the costumes of children and colleagues at Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick as they celebrated World Book Day at the setting.

As part of the festivities, pre-schoolers from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Bennett Street shared their favourite stories and took part in themed activities, whilst all 27 staff members dressed up to commemorate the annual celebration, which looks to honour stories and encourage a lasting love of reading.

Devonshire Day Nursery Business Administrator, Erica Lee explained;

“We’ve had a brilliant time admiring the incredible effort that has gone into the costumes and exploring some of our favourite books across the nursery. Storytelling is not only brilliant for capturing the imagination, but essential for aiding language development, building literary confidence and helping us to understand emotions.”

World Book Day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995.
