Colleague victory raises money for charity at Greengables Day Nursery
After setting herself the challenge of losing eight stone before the end of the year, Greengables Day Nursery Business Administrator, Claire Silva, was delighted to not only reach her goal, but raise money for charity in the process.
Having spent some time on furlough, Claire used her free time to incorporate exercise into her daily routine, as well as following a Slimming World plan. This led Area Manager, Emma Kemp to pledge to personally donate £50 to the day nursery on Yeovil Road’s fundraising total, should she succeed in reaching her target.
Last weekend, Claire achieved her impressive eight stone weight loss, taking the setting’s total raised for Cancer Research UK this year to £1,012.50 with the help of additional fundraising initiatives such as sponsored silences, dress-up days, hamper raffles, birthday cake sales, photography commission and more.
Greengables Business Administrator, Claire Silva explained;
“Last year I began my journey in trying to lose a significant amount of weight before I turned 40 in June. I still have a little bit more to go, but I am so proud of how far I have come. To know that I have helped to raise money for such a worthy cause in the process makes this even more special and I am very grateful for the support my colleagues have shown me in helping me reach this milestone.”
Greengables have adopted Cancer Research UK for a year-long fundraising drive, which has now been extended to the end of 2021 to support them through the pandemic. The charity are currently facing predicted fundraising losses of 20-25%.
