Childbase Partnership employees start the year with a £1.2 million pay out
Childbase Partnership has started 2019 with a £1.2 million pay out to staff in 43 day nurseries in the South of England recognising their status as employee owners of the award-winning company.
The tax-free Partnership Dividend payments of £750 each, for employee owners contributing to the company’s success in the last financial year, sparked celebrations in all settings as staff made holiday and spending plans.
Holly Willshire, Deputy Manager of the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Meadow View Day Nursery - who has been at Childbase Partnership for over 11 years - explained the significance of the payment.
“There is a real energy in nursery at this time because the dividend payment reminds us all that we are personally invested in giving our children the best possible nursery experience. And as Ofsted inspectors have repeatedly reminded us, happy and energised staff are the key to ensuring children are happy, confident and ready to realise their full potential,” she said.
Meadow View Day Nursery Apprentice Lucy Cooper, who is completing an Early Years Qualification, will be using her payment for a family reunion in America.
“I haven’t seen my brother in two years or met his second son who is now three years old. I can’t wait,” she said.
“Knowing that my hard work and enthusiasm for the job has helped make this payment possible makes me feel valued and proud to be part of a thriving employee owned company. This is the perfect way to start a new year,” she added.
In a personal letter to all employee owners – currently over 2,000 - Childbase Partnership Founder and Chairman, Mike Thompson, said:
“The important thing to remember is that this payment is based on hours worked so full-timers, from Apprentices to the Chairman, get the same Partnership Dividend payment because we are all owners and everybody’s contribution, irrespective of their role, is vital to our pursuit of excellence every single day.”
The Partnership Dividend Payment follows an historic company-wide vote to move from individual share ownership of the company, which was founded in 1989, to a long term Trust which benefits everybody, equally, for generations to come.
A Sunday Times ‘top workplace’ for over a decade, Childbase Partnership picked up three top European Business Awards last year when it was described as ‘the gold standard for business excellence’ and commended for its creativity, innovation, and impressive respect for employees.
