Childbase Partnership celebrates ‘Best UK workplace’ Awards

Childbase Partnership Founder and Chairman Mike Thompson retains his title as the country’s best company leader and the employee-owned business is No.2 in the prestigious competition to find the best UK workplaces.

Cheering in 44 Childbase Partnership day nurseries in the south of England greeted the announcement in the day-long, Best Companies virtual awards ceremony as children and staff staged tea parties in celebration.

Mike Thompson, who was rated Best Leader of a big UK company last year and realized his dream of full employee ownership at Childbase Partnership in 2017, paid tribute to his 2,000-plus colleagues whose confidential survey results led to his award and top 10 ratings in six categories of the competition.

“It is an honour and my privilege to work alongside 2,000 plus exceptional people in Childbase whose achievements during an extraordinary year have been a source of great pride. My role as Chairman is to make sure that they are recognized and celebrated,” said Mike Thompson.

Childbase Partnership – the only dedicated childcare and education provider listed - went into the competition rated ‘World Class’ by Best Companies engagement specialists which confidentially surveyed thousands of staff in organisations across a number of industry sectors. It was beaten into second place in the Best Big Company to Work For category - by pharmaceutical giant, Roche – and in the special awards to find the best Education and Training Organisation, and the Best Big Company in London.

Childbase Partnership has been listed as a Top UK workplace for 14 years running with employee owners enjoying tax-free Partnership Dividend payments of up to £1,000 each – the same for full timers from apprentices through to the Chairman – and enjoying a variety of benefits; wellbeing initiatives and social events.

In addition to full pay for all and bonuses for employees working throughout the Pandemic  the company held a series of virtual events, like the awards ceremony with musical performances by ‘Scouting For Girls’ group, a bingo night and yoga, pilates and dance classes to maintain connection and bolster morale and wellbeing.
