Celebrating the Queen’s birthday at Greengables Day Nursery

Children from Greengables Day Nursery in Owlsmoor were delighted to mark the Queen's Official Birthday with a series of themed activities and celebrations.

After making their very own crowns and playing party games, pre-schoolers from the award-winning day nursery on Yeovil Road enjoyed a special afternoon tea, complete with traditional scones and cucumber sandwiches, before researching the monarchy using a range of resources including books and the smart board.

Greengables Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Julia Grant explained;

“We love to mark a varied range of events throughout the year to give the children a better understanding of the world around them and develop cultural capital. We had a brilliant time celebrating the Queen’s birthday and this provided many learning opportunities and chances to showcase creativity.”

Whilst the Queen turned 95 on 21st April, her official birthday is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of June.
