Celebrating lockdown heroes at Highbury Lodge Day Nursery

From nurses and police officers to Spider-Man and Batwoman, children from Highbury Lodge Day Nursery in Hitchin were delighted to dress up as the people that inspire them in order to mark the anniversary of the first Covid lockdown.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Highbury Road, pre-schoolers took part in a range of activities for the occasion, including role playing as doctors and shop keepers, whilst hardworking practitioners were gifted a selection of pizzas from kindhearted parent, Amir, who owns a local Pizza GoGo branch, which the team enjoyed as part of a buffet spread to celebrate their achievements over the past year.

Highbury Lodge Day Nursery Manager, Carol Kewley explained;

“We have had a lovely day reflecting on the past year and celebrating all the people who have shown such amazing kindness and bravery despite the circumstances. This year has been unique to any other, and we are so grateful to our wonderful nursery families for the support and kindness they have continued to show us.”

Using money from its ‘Charity Support Fund’, which is in place to help worthy causes away from fundraising partner ‘Cancer Research UK’, Childbase Partnership is also making a donation to ‘Duty to Care’, a charity which supports the wellbeing of healthcare professionals.
