Celebrating International Nurses Day at Green Park Day Nursery

Children from Green Park Day Nursery in Reading have been celebrating dedicated healthcare professionals with a range of activities to mark International Nurses Day.

From creating a surgery in their role play area and dressing up in uniforms to designing ‘thank you’ cards for devoted key workers, pre-schoolers from the day nursery on Lime Square were delighted to celebrate the inspirational role models, who have been the focus of many activities over the past year due to Covid-19.

Following on from a special ‘Lockdown Heroes Day’ at the setting earlier in the year which honoured the incredible efforts of essential workers throughout the pandemic, children also used the occasion to discuss the importance of the NHS and how doctors and nurses help to make us feel better.

Green Park Day Nursery Manager, Mandy Cooper explained;

“We are so grateful to all the incredible nurses who work tirelessly and have shown such devotion over the past year. They are amazing role models for the children and demonstrate the values of kindness and compassion that we teach every day. We had a brilliant time celebrating them and this provided many opportunities to showcase our creativity and build cultural capital.”

International Nurses Day is held on Wednesday 12th May 2021.
