Celebrating Diwali at Hampstead Gate Day Nursery

Children from Hampstead Gate Day Nursery in Milton Keynes were delighted to join millions of people across the world in celebrating the festival of Diwali.

From creating beautiful rangoli patterns, dancing to traditional music and exploring colourful rice, to co-researching the ‘Festival of Lights’ and the customs that take place using a special information table, there were exciting learning opportunities at every turn for inquisitive pre-schoolers at the award-winning setting on Eelbrook Avenue.

To further the experience, talented Nursery Chef, Olivia Cherry, curated a menu of ‘Diwali Delights’ to allow children to taste a variety of popular Indian foods, including vegetable daal, spinach saag aloo, homemade chapatis and naans and sweet rice pudding desserts.

Hampstead Gate Day Nursery Team Leader, Tegan Ennis explained;

“We had a brilliant time celebrating Diwali and learning of the meaning behind the festival, which tells of the powerful triumph of good over evil. We love to mark a range of religious and cultural events throughout the year to give the children a better understanding of the world around them, as well as celebrating the rich diversity in our local community.”
