Cedars Day Nursery colleagues showcase kindness in the community
Thoughtful colleagues from Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard have been showcasing their sense of community spirit by carrying out acts of kindness.
As part of her daily exercise, Nursery Practitioner, Sandra Maxwell, went litter picking around her local area, filling buckets with rubbish to be properly disposed of. Meanwhile, Nursery Practitioner and avid baker, Dani Sabella, created a special Mother’s Day cake, complete with pink drip fondant, which she auctioned off in a raffle, raising a grand total of £183.00 for the NHS Milton Keynes Hospital.
In the coming weeks, Dani will be baking another Easter themed cake to raffle off for good causes, whilst at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Mentmore Road, children will learn more about recycling as part of their Eco-Schools curriculum. The programme sees the children take part in activities such as vegetable planting and building bug hotels, and has resulted in them earning a prestigious ‘Green Flag’ award – the highest accolade in the environmental scheme.
Cedars Day Nursery Team Leader, Annabelle Plaster explained;
“We are so proud of our colleagues for the brilliant example they continue to set to the children both in and outside of the nursery. We continuously strive to support our local community and help worthy causes, including our current fundraising drive for Cancer Research UK, and love to involve the children in this wherever possible.”
