Cedars Day Nursery children help plant trees across the globe

Young environmental enthusiasts from Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard are helping to support reforestation by taking part in the ‘Just One Tree’ initiative.

For every £1 donated, Just One Tree will plant a seed in Mozambique, Haiti, Madagascar or Kenya, in the aims of helping to tackle the current climate crisis by ensuring there are more trees to absorb the pollutants in the atmosphere.

By holding an ‘autumn colours’ themed dress-up day, children from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Mentmore Road raised a grand total of £54 for the worthy cause, meaning 54 new trees will be planted across the world in their honour.

Cedars Day Nursery Eco School Co-Ordinator, Victoria Stone explained;

“We are absolutely delighted to be part of something that will make such a positive impact on the environment. 54 seeds will now be chosen and planted by Just One Tree, and these will start to remove roughly 664kgs of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each and every year, as well as create homes for entire eco-systems.”

Cedars Day Nursery holds a prestigious ‘Green Flag’ award for exceptional environmental awareness and conservation efforts.
