Cedar Park ‘World Cancer Day’ fundraiser generates over £800 for charity
Kind-hearted families and colleagues from Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford have held a series of fundraising events to raise money for charity on ‘World Cancer Day’.
At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Bridge Farm Road, children and teams were delighted to take part in three separate events to raise vital funds for their charity partner, Cancer Research UK, including a ‘Pretty Muddy’ race, sponsored yoga and an art class. As a result the setting have raised an impressive total of £ 843.50 for the worthy cause, with donations still incoming.
Having adopted Cancer Research UK at the start of 2020 for a year-long fundraising drive, the team have shown determination to help the charity despite the challenges presented by Covid-19, and have now extended their partnership until the end of 2021 to compensate for the losses in fundraising income due to the pandemic.
Cedar Park Day Nursery Deputy to Area Manager, Rachael Main explained;
“Cancer Research UK are currently facing predicted losses of 20-25% in fundraising income due to the virus so we have been determined to carry on with our initiatives in order to help fund the life-saving work they do. We are so lucky to have such generous nursery families who are brilliant at getting behind the causes we support. The children also had a brilliant time taking part in these special activities.”
World Cancer Day falls on Thursday 4th February 2021 and aims to raise worldwide attention of the disease and inspire action for a cancer-free future.
