Festivities were well underway at Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford as children and colleagues marked National Storytelling Week with a series of activities.
At the award-winning setting on Bridge Farm Road, children were delighted to share their favourite books with friends, as well as exploring story sacks, character puppets, themed tuff trays and role play games to bring the tales to life and spark further learning opportunities.
As part of the festivities, pre-schoolers enjoyed embarking on a trip to their local library, where they immersed themselves in all the books on offer, browsing the shelves and reading as group, before being inspired to acquire a library card to begin monthly visits.
Cedar Park Manager, Rachael Main explained;
“National Storytelling Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate children’s imaginations and their natural love of stories, all whilst building language skills, confidence and a lifelong enjoyment of reading. Our visit to the local library was a real highlight for the children, and we’re proud to encourage strong links with the community while inspiring our pre-schoolers to see reading as an exciting adventure that continues beyond the nursery.”
National Storytelling Week runs from 31st January to 8th February 2026.
