Cedar Park Day Nursery colleague inspires month-long fundraiser
Following the devastating news that one of their beloved colleagues had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer during lockdown, the team at Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford decided to organise a fundraiser with an impact.
In order to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and show their support, every single member of the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Cedar Park Day Nursery team, which is made up of over 50 colleagues, has pledged to walk, run, swim and cycle as many miles as possible over the month of July, before collating the grand total.
From using exercise equipment at home, to a new cycle to work initiative, the colleagues from the setting on Bridge Farm Road are showing their solidarity by dedicating any free time they have to the cause. At the weekend, Qualified Nursery Practitioners; Jacqui, Nicola, Amber, Theresa and Amelia walked over 17km from Henley to Marlow, whilst Nursery Manager, Emma Kemp and her husband Simon cycled a total of 86.38km around the coast of the Isle of Wight.
Cedar Park Day Nursery Manager, Emma Kemp explained;
“We have all been deeply saddened by the news of our wonderful colleague, who is now receiving chemotherapy treatment. Cancer is a disease that effects and impacts the lives of everyone, which is why we have been so determined to drive this fundraising initiative forward. I’m so proud of the way everybody has pulled together and embodied the sense of team spirit, and hopefully we can raise lots of money which will go towards helping families, funding research and finding a cure.”
Cedar Park Day Nursery has adopted Cancer Research UK for a year-long fundraising drive.
