British Science Week at Cherry Trees Day Nursery
Budding young scientists from Cherry Trees Day Nursery in Cranfield are taking part in a series of themed activities to celebrate ‘British Science Week’.
From creating coloured rain to making rockets, the activities at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Duncan Road aim to encourage children to think critically, whilst incorporating basic maths and science messages.
The children regularly take part in ‘STEM’ activities as part of an initiative which looks to integrate ‘Science’, ‘Technology’, ‘Engineering’ and ‘Maths’ into everyday learning in order to introduce the importance of the subjects and nurture interest.
Cherry Trees Day Nursery Manager, Emma Jestice explained;
“All the children love the activities and are always so excited to get involved. Our practitioner James has even created a big book filled with STEM experiments for the children to use and follow. Science is brilliant for helping to develop key life skills such as problem solving and forming opinions based on observations.”
Run by the British Science Association, ‘British Science Week’ looks to celebrate the use of science in our everyday lives and encourage more people to pursue an interest in the field.
