There was delight for children at Berryfields Day Nursery in Aylesbury as they embarked on a special trip to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre to see the stage adaptation of a beloved book.
After catching the bus into town, pre-schoolers from the Nimrod Street setting took to their seats for a production of ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ by Roald Dahl, filled with colourful costumes, energetic performances, and plenty of humour to capture the imagination.
Back at nursery, the group returned inspired by the performance and eager to discuss their favourite parts of the show, before expressing their creativity by making artwork of the characters, re-enacting the story with props and co-researching crocodiles in the wild.
Berryfields Manager, Jessica D’Arcy explained;
“For many of our children, this was their very first visit to the theatre, which made the experience even more meaningful. Trips like this are so valuable as they help bring stories to life in a way that simply can’t be replicated in the classroom. You could see the joy and excitement on their faces throughout the performance, and it’s wonderful to see that enthusiasm continue back at nursery through their play, creativity, and conversations.”
