Beloved book characters come to life at Windermere Day Nursery

‘The Cat in the Hat’ and ‘Simon Sock’ were just some of the beloved characters that children from Windermere Day Nursery in Kettering impersonated to commemorate ‘World Book Day’.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Haweswater Road, children dressed as their favourite literary figures to mark the 23rd annual celebration, whilst taking part in activities such as a ‘Tiger Who Came to Tea’ themed tea party, and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ related role play games.

Colleagues from the setting also showcased their creativity with a costume competition, where Nursery Team Leader, Hollie McDonald won first place with her recreation of David Walliams’ famous ‘Gangsta Granny’ character.

Windermere Day Nursery Manager, Amy McCulloch explained;

“We have had a brilliant time admiring the amazing effort that has gone into everybody’s costumes, whilst exploring our favourite books and getting creative. Storytelling is not only essential for aiding language development, but captivating the imagination and building literary confidence too.”
