Festivities were well underway at Windermere Day Nursery in Kettering as colleagues, children and families came together to celebrate the setting’s milestone 25th birthday.
Decorated with balloons and bunting, the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ setting on Haweswater Road provided a nostalgic backdrop for the special occasion. Devoted teams took time to reflect on the thousands of young lives they have helped shape since opening their doors in 2001, while enjoying an afternoon tea and drop-ins from Childbase Partnership visitors.
Throughout the day, children were delighted to immerse themselves in all the activities on offer, including a disco, party games, baking activities, arts and crafts and a picnic tea.
Over the years, Windermere have taken part in endless community ventures, including visiting donating to local food banks and taking part in litter picking initiatives to clear up their area, as well as being the proud holders of a host of accolades, including the prestigious Green Flag with Distinction from Eco-Schools for their environmental efforts.
Since opening, the nursery and its colleagues have also helped to raise thousands of pounds for worthy causes including Bliss, The Trussell Trust and Mind with fundraisers like sleep rough nights, summer fayres and sponsored cycling challenges, contributing to the four million plus figure raised by Childbase Partnership for charity over its history.
Windermere Deputy Manager, Elaina Camenzuli explained;
“There is such a strong sense of community here, and we are incredibly proud of everything our team has achieved over the years, from giving generations of children the very best start in life to supporting local initiatives and national charities. It was wonderful to mark such an important milestone together and create even more memories with our families. We would like to thank everyone, past and present, who has helped to make Windermere the special place it is today, and we look forward to many more years to come.”
