‘What the Ladybird Heard’, ‘Zog’ and ‘Aliens Love Underpants’ were just some of the beloved books that inspired children and colleagues from Nature Trails Day Nursery in Cawston as they dressed up to celebrate World Book Day.
At the setting on Coventry Road, pre-schoolers were delighted to share their favourite stories with friends and take part in book themed crafting activities, whilst practitioners delivered exciting storytelling sessions complete with props to commemorate the annual event, which looks to celebrate the magic of books and encourage a lasting love of reading.
As part of the festivities, families donated their pre-loved books to Nature Trails for a special book sale exchange, with all proceeds going to The Trussell Trust food bank network.
Nature Trails Day Nursery Business Administrator, Georgina Ross-Barnard explained;
“World Book Day is always hugely special in nursery and our children and colleagues have the best time celebrating. We are also thrilled to be giving some cherished books the chance to be enjoyed again, whilst helping the worthy cause that is The Trussell Trust.”
Nature Trails have adopted The Trussell Trust for a year-long fundraising drive.
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
