Festivities were well underway at Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon as children celebrated National Storytelling Week with a series of themed activities and a guest visitor.
At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Windmill Hill Business Park, children were immersed in creative opportunities based around beloved books, from exploring a ‘Room on the Broom’ themed sensory swamp to making ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ inspired playdough.
As part of the occasion, pre-schoolers were delighted to welcome a nursery grandparent to the setting for a special storytelling session, where they enjoyed listening to them bring the beloved tales of ‘Mrs Armitage’s Bicycle’ and ‘Chicken Licken’ to life.
Windmill Hill Day Nursery Quality Manager, Karamay Pritchett explained;
“Storytelling is a fantastic way of bringing people together and is wonderful for inspiring, entertaining and capturing the children’s imaginations. We love having visitors come in, especially family members, and are so grateful to them for giving up their time to help create these rich and memorable learning experiences.”
National Storytelling Week runs from 28th January – 5th February.
