Festivities were well underway at Knowle Green Day Nursery in Staines as families and colleagues took part in a series of celebrations to mark the Coronation of King Charles.
At the award-winning setting on Knowle Green, children were delighted to welcome local Mayor, Cllr Susan Doran to the nursery with a bouquet of red, white and blue flowers, where she joined families for their Coronation Spring Fayre, complete with carnival games including a coconut shy and hook-a-duck, cake stalls, a hotdog stand, charity raffle and more.
As well as socialising with parents and staff, the Mayor cut a special Coronation cake to commemorate the event and praised families for their fundraising efforts, with the Spring Fayre raising over £1,500 for The Trussell Trust thanks to their generous donations.
During the celebrations, pre-schoolers showcased their creativity by making a Union Jack card for King Charles, before penning their well wishes and delivering it to the post box.
Knowle Green Day Nursery Manager, Chanelle Weaver explained;
“We had a fantastic evening celebrating with our incredible nursery families and we are so grateful to the Mayor for taking time out of her busy schedule to be part of this experience. We are thrilled to be supporting our local food bank and helping local people who need it most and hope the memories of this special event stay with the children for years to come.”
Knowle Green have adopted The Trussell Trust for a year-long fundraising drive, with regular donations to the Runnymede Foodbank.
