There was cause for celebration at Sandfield Day Nursery in Headington and Brinds Well Day Nursery in Chelsfield as devoted colleagues from Childbase Partnership completed the Virtual TCS London Marathon, all in aid of company charity of the year, Bliss.
Completing the gruelling 26.2-mile course around her home in Brize Norton, emotions ran high as Sandfield Day Nursery Practitioner, Keeley Boakes crossed the finish line after months of vigorous training, raising a grand total of £571.00 for the worthy cause, which will now go towards helping babies born premature or sick, as well as their families.
Meanwhile, embarking on the course over a route spanning Orpington to Blackheath and back again, Brinds Well Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Jamie Lane and Nursery Practitioner, Chanel Robinson were delighted to finish the virtual marathon together, raising a grand total of £1,381.00 from generous supporters and families from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Hawstead Lane as a result of their combined efforts.
Brinds Well Day Nursery Practitioner, Chanel Robinson explained;
“This was such a big achievement for us and we are so proud to have finished. We kept each other going and even though it took us longer than we expected, we still completed it with a smile on our face. Not only is Bliss our charity of the year, but we have colleagues who have required their services in the past and we really wanted to show our support, although we are sore and tired, we are thrilled to be helping families that need it most.”
The Virtual TCS London Marathon took place on Sunday 2nd October and gave participants the opportunity to take on the 26.2-mile challenge from a location of their choice.
