Leap Year celebrations at Meadow View

Meadow View Leap Year

Celebrations were well underway at Meadow View Day Nursery in Newport Pagnell as children dressed up in costume to mark their very first Leap Year with a special party.

From ‘dress to impress’ to ‘animals that leap’, each age group at the award-winning setting on Westbury Lane was set an outfit theme for the occasion, which inspired children and colleagues to pull out all the stops with accessories and face painting for the 29th February festivities, which only occur once every four years to align the calendar with Earth’s orbit.

During the celebrations, children were delighted to immerse themselves in the fun and games on offer, which included showcasing their dance moves to disco music, taking part in arts and crafts, learning about the science behind the Leap Year and enjoying a party tea.

Meadow View Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Jen Curley explained;

“With an extra day in the year, we wanted to make sure it was a memorable one for our little ones. We had a brilliant time celebrating this first in their lives and helping them discover more about this unique calendar event. It’s always a joy to see our children so engaged and excited about learning new things and help shape their knowledge of the world we live in.”
