There was cause for celebration at Julia Durbin Day Nursery in Headington as children and practitioners completed a mile-long Halloween walk, all whilst raising funds for charity, Bliss.
Dressed in costumes ranging from witches and cats to pumpkins and skeletons, pre-schoolers from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Roosevelt Drive embarked on the walk around the local area, admiring and collecting a range of autumnal resources as they went, including leaves, conkers and pinecones, to then be used in crafting activities.
As a result of their efforts, children and colleagues were thrilled to learn they had raised a grand total of £699.00 for the worthy cause, with donations still incoming from generous families at the setting, which will now go towards helping babies born premature or sick. The fundraising efforts continued with a Halloween cake sale, adding a further £94.00 to the total.
Julia Durbin Day Nursery Charity Representative, Emma Piorkowski explained;
“The children loved taking part in the Halloween mile and were so proud of their accomplishment. This proved to be a brilliant way of keeping active, whilst taking in and experiencing all the seasonal changes that we have been learning about in nursery. We love to involve them in our fundraising efforts wherever possible and are so thrilled to be making this donation with the help of our incredible nursery families.”
