Festivities were well underway at Cherry Trees Day Nursery in Cranfield as children and colleagues took part in a range of activities to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Duncan Road, children were delighted to create their very own bunting and paper chain decorations, as well as crowns encrusted with jewels and diamonds for a ‘Very Royal Tea Party’, where parents joined in the garden for socialising and a selection of homemade treats, including cakes, sandwiches and scones.
Across the setting, pre-schoolers also took part in a range of activities to mark Her Majesty’s 70-year reign, from reading storybooks about the Queen and painting their interpretations of her, to crafting with red, white and blue materials and making biscuits for the occasion.
Cherry Trees Day Nursery Quality Manager, Lorraine Harben explained;
“We had a brilliant time commemorating this special event in history and this provided endless opportunities for the children to showcase their creativity, as well as learn more about the wider world around them. It was lovely to welcome nursery families to the tea party, and we were also thrilled to raise vital funds for Bliss with a special charity raffle.”
