There was cause for celebration at Highfield Day Nursery in Edgbaston as proud parents and practitioners learnt that the setting had achieved Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ status for the fourth time running, following an inspection in August.
A result achieved by only 16 percent of English Early Years providers, the Ofsted inspector praised staff at the setting on Highfield Road for creating “an inspiring and motivating environment for children to follow their interests”, where they “progress rapidly in their communication” and are “happy, secure and settle well with the help of their key persons”.
In the report, the inspector credited the key-person system as “exceptional”, adding that “staff have an abundance of knowledge about each individual child”, which allows them to “prosper in all areas of learning”, including those with English as an additional language.
Opportunities for physical development were also admired by the inspector, who observed a range of age-appropriate activities, as well as environmental initiatives and the promotion of healthy lifestyles through learning experiences such as growing herbs and vegetables.
