Hertford Barns Summer Fete raises funds for food banks
The sun was shining at Hertford Barns Day Nursery as families and colleagues gathered for a fun-filled Summer Fete, all whilst raising funds for The Trussell Trust food bank network.
At the award-winning setting on Cole Green, children were delighted to immerse themselves in the activities on offer, with fun and games including hook-a-duck, face and body painting, photobooth with props and an exciting tortoise pet and play session, whilst parents enjoyed socialising over the array of delicious summer refreshments and browsing stalls.
During the festivities, pre-schoolers enjoyed showcasing their creativity during arts and crafts sessions, from biscuit decorating to mask making, with families also taking part in charity raffles and bake sales to raise money for The Trussell Trust, raising a grand total of £680.00 for the cause, which will now help provide emergency food parcels to local people in need.
Hertford Barns Day Nursery Manager, Jenny Pratt explained;
“It was a pleasure to see so many friendly faces at our Summer Fete and we can’t thank our nursery families and colleagues enough for their presence and involvement on the day. Together, we managed to raise an impressive amount for The Trussell Trust, who do exceptional work in tackling food poverty and supporting vulnerable people in our community. This will make a real difference in ensuring that no one goes hungry.”
Hertford Barns has adopted The Trussell Trust for a year-long fundraising drive.
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
