Festivities were well underway at River View Day Nursery in Hertford as children and colleagues dressed up in costume to celebrate Halloween with a range of themed activities.
From skeletons and superheroes to cats and witches, groups from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on North Road were thrilled to immerse themselves in all the occasion had to offer, with pre-schoolers showcasing creativity by making spooky crafts and taking advantage of the darker evenings by putting on shadow shows using torches.
As part of the experience, pre-schoolers enjoyed taking part in special STEM experiments, watching on in awe as their cauldron potions bubbled over with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda mixtures and joyfully observing as their ghost balloons flew through the garden, all whilst developing their fine motor skills and learning basic maths and science messages.
Families were delighted to join in with the festivities at home, having been challenged to a pumpkin carving and decorating competition, with entries displayed around the nursery for all to admire, with designs including The Gruffalo, Hey Duggee and Paddington Bear.
River View Day Nursery Manager, Tasha Boon explained;
“We have had a brilliant time celebrating Halloween and there has been a wonderful atmosphere in nursery with everyone getting involved. The team have worked so hard to plan all the activities, and this has provided so many opportunities to promote imagination, as well as building on fine motor skills, sensory play and language development.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
