Festivities were well underway at Nursery on the Green in Southall as children and colleagues dressed up in costume to celebrate Halloween with a range of themed activities.
From skeletons and superheroes to cats and witches, groups from the Thorncliffe Road setting were delighted to immerse themselves in all the occasion had to offer, with pre-schoolers showcasing creativity as they made spooky crafts including spiders and bats from recycled materials and reading inspired stories of ‘Funny Bones’ and ‘Room on the Broom’.
As part of the experience, devoted practitioners created a special pumpkin patch area, complete with hay bales and a handmade scarecrow, where children could select their own pumpkins to explore, decorate and carve, before using the insides for sensory play opportunities and collecting the seeds ready to plant again outside in the springtime.
Nursery on the Green Manager, Emma Littler explained;
“We had a fantastic time celebrating Halloween and it was amazing to see the incredible effort that everyone put into their outfits. We love to mark a range of events throughout the year and the festivities provided the perfect opportunity to develop language skills, enhance imagination, build on fine motor skills and promote a wider understanding of the world.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
