Festivities were well underway at Grasshoppers Day Nursery in St Albans as children and colleagues dressed up in costume to celebrate Halloween with a range of themed activities.
With outfits ranging from monsters and pumpkins to pineapples and cats, groups from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on York Road were delighted to immerse themselves in all the occasion had to offer, whilst families made generous contributions of essential food and household items to donate to the St Albans and District Foodbank in support of local people.
During the celebrations, children showcased their creativity by making spooky arts and crafts and carving and decorating pumpkins, as well as conjuring up their very own witches potions and finishing the day with a special ‘Bug Ball’, filled with music, dancing and sensory lights.
Grasshoppers Day Nursery Charity Representative, Tara Barrett explained;
“We had a fantastic time celebrating Halloween and we made lots of lovely memories which we hope the children will remember for a long time to come. We are thrilled to be making this donation to our local food bank, who provide a real lifeline for people facing hardship, and are so grateful to our nursery families for their continued support and generosity.”
Grasshoppers have adopted The Trussell Trust for a year-long fundraising drive.
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
