Field House Day Nursery float wins first place at Christmas Parade
There was delight at Field House Day Nursery in Buckingham as talented practitioners and parents were crowned winners of ‘Best Float’ at the annual Buckingham Christmas Parade.
Taking the top prize in the ‘Film’ themed event with their ‘Alice in Wonderland’ inspired entry, the team from the Tingewick Road setting pulled out all the stops with a tea party scene, complete with giant playing cards and clocks, hanging umbrellas and children and adults in character costumes including the Mad Hatter and White Rabbit, beating 35 competitors.
As a result of their efforts, Field House were awarded a trophy by MP Greg Smith during the parade, which is now proudly displayed in the nursery’s trophy cabinet, as well as the £100.00 prize money which is being put towards staff wellbeing incentives at the setting.
Field House Day Nursery Manager, Liz Hofman explained;
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have won – we all love this event and have been taking part for over a decade. Our colleagues and nursery families always put in such an enormous amount of effort and this tradition gives the children incredible memories to cherish. There were so many amazing floats, so we feel hugely proud to be chosen as winners.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
