Festive fundraising at West Cambridge Day Nursery

West Cambridge Movember

Kind-hearted colleagues from West Cambridge Day Nursery have been taking part in a series of fundraising initiatives to raise money for charity ‘Bliss’ in the run up to Christmas.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Charles Babbage Road, colleagues Sam Waters, Tom Jakes, Charles Nnochiri and Charlie Parkin took on their own Movember challenge, growing their moustaches without shaving throughout the month of November, raising a grand total of £100 which will go towards helping babies born premature or sick.

Meanwhile, a special Christmas Raffle was organised by Business Administrator, Amanda Derouich, raising a total of £300 for the worthy cause and giving nursery families the chance to win prizes including Christmas gift bundles, prosecco, Hotel Chocolat items and more.

Across the setting, delighted children have also been enjoying an array of festive activities and celebrations, including crafting activities, Christmas lunches and parties in their rooms.

As a result of their fundraising efforts throughout the year, which have included colleagues spending a night ‘sleeping rough’ under the stars, a ‘Very Royal’ Jubilee Tea Party, dress up days and more, the nursery has helped contribute to the £120,000 raised so far by Childbase Partnership settings for Bliss, with several weeks of fundraising yet to go.

West Cambridge Day Nursery Charity Representative, Jade Joslin explained;

“Our colleagues are brilliant at thinking of ways to raise funds for the incredible causes we support and we are so lucky to have the backing of our amazing nursery families. We are so delighted to be donating £400 and counting just before Christmas to this incredible charity.”
