Festive fun at Windmill Hill

Windmill Hill Christmas

Festivities were well underway at Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon as children enjoyed a special pantomime performance and Christmas party, all whilst raising funds for charity.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Windmill Hill Business Park, pre-schoolers were delighted to be immersed in an exciting performance of ‘Search for Santa’ by the Shooting Star Entertainments theatre company, who visited the setting to introduce a range of festive characters in the journey to meet Father Christmas in Nursery Rhyme Land.

During the dazzling half hour performance, children joined in with action songs, Christmas favourites and popular nursery rhymes, before having the chance to have their photos taken with the performers and talk to them about their beautiful array of costumes and props.

As part of the December celebrations, families also gathered at the nursery for a Christmas party, where they enjoyed an array of themed crafting opportunities, including bauble decorating and reindeer food making, as well as having the chance to meet Santa in the specially decorated grotto area, where each child received an early Christmas gift.

Thanks to the support of nursery families, Windmill Hill were able to raise over £700.00 from the special event for The Trussell Trust food bank network, which will now go towards providing emergency food parcels for local people facing hardship over the festive period.

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Manager, Kayleigh Blaylock explained;

“We’ve had a fantastic few weeks in nursery preparing for Christmas, and it’s so lovely to see how excited all the children are for the big day. Although this is a magical time, it can be incredibly tough for many, so we are absolutely thrilled to be making this final donation to The Trussell Trust after 12 months of fundraising. We couldn’t have done it without the generosity of our nursery families, who are incredible at showing support for these causes.”

Windmill Hill have adopted The Trussell Trust for a year-long fundraising and donation drive.
