Devonshire Day Nursery colleagues celebrate Eid al-Fitr
Festivities were well underway at Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick as practitioners celebrating Eid imparted their expert knowledge with children and colleagues at the setting.
To provide a deeper understanding of the occasion, which marks the end of Ramadan and the fasting period, colleagues Senya, Ammani, Suad and Sadega created a special Eid al-Fitr display in the reception area at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Bennett Street, filled with information and decorations from home to give families a better insight.
As part of the celebrations, Suad made special date biscuits from her home country of Iraq, whilst Devonshire’s Kitchen Assistant made traditional sweet rice with the children. The group dressed in their party clothes for the occasion and enjoyed learning about the importance of the festival, whilst older children and colleagues experienced henna by Preeti.
Devonshire Day Nursery Manager, Emmy Avery explained;
“As we are such a diverse nursery, we mark as many festivals as we can throughout the year to give the children a wider understanding of our community and the world around them, as well as to celebrate our differences. Eid al-Fitr is a very important time for many of our colleagues so it’s been lovely to learn more about this special period in their lives.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
