Festivities were well underway at Woodlands Day Nursery in Barnet as children and colleagues took part in a series of celebrations to mark the Coronation of King Charles.
At the award-winning setting on Orchard Road, pre-schoolers were delighted to showcase their creativity with a range of themed activities, from making their very own masterpieces of the monarch, to putting together unique time capsules in their age-appropriate rooms, which were filled with special items to commemorate the event and buried in the garden outside.
As part of the occasion, children welcomed nursery parents to the setting to read stories relating to the Coronation, including the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ story of King Charles, as well as enjoying a celebratory tea party complete with handmade sandwiches, cakes and scones, and even a visit from the King himself in the form of a life-sized cardboard cut-out.
Having dressed in their finest royal-inspired outfits and homemade crowns, children and colleagues were also thrilled to raise a grand total of £45.00 for The Trussell Trust, having pledged a year-long fundraising and donation drive for the worthy cause.
Woodlands Day Nursery Business Administrator, Sophia Southam explained;
“We love to mark a variety of special occasions throughout the year at Woodlands and it is always lovely to have our nursery families join us to help create these lasting memories. The children have had a fantastic time preparing for the Coronation and this has presented some incredibly rich learning opportunities, all whilst helping to raise funds for our local food bank.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
