There was a ‘right royal celebration’ at Nene Valley Day Nursery in Northampton as colleagues hosted a special breakfast for families to mark the Coronation of King Charles.
At the award-winning setting on Northampton General Hospital Complex, parents joined children and staff to commemorate the historic event, socialising over a spread of fresh pastries, fruit and traditional scones, complete with activities including crown making and decorating, as well as themed story sessions and sing-alongs to further knowledge.
As part of the festivities, guests dressed in red, white and blue and brought in donations of essential food and household items for the Bedford Foodbank, contributing over 100 tins, whilst families also enjoyed a bake sale featuring the children’s homemade cakes and biscuits, with all proceeds going to The Trussell Trust to help local people who need it most.
Nene Valley Day Nursery Manager, Jade Shillington explained;
“We had a fantastic time celebrating the Coronation with our wonderful nursery families, whilst developing the children’s understanding of our new King in a fun and interactive way. There were endless learning opportunities, from promoting early literacy with read and rhyme sessions, to developing fine motor skills by encouraging independence with cutlery.”
“We are so grateful for the continued support of our nursery families and are thrilled to be supporting The Trussell Trust in the process”, she added.
