Inspired by the success of the Commonwealth Games in their home city, children from Highfield Day Nursery in Birmingham were delighted to compete in their very own sporting event, all whilst raising vital funds for babies born premature or sick.
Complete with exciting activities including an egg and spoon race, bean bag toss, jumping jacks and a parent and child race, pre-schoolers from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Highfield Road were delighted to be joined by their families for the occasion, which raised a grand total of £538.00 for charity Bliss, with donations still incoming.
Highfield Day Nursery Charity Representative, Raj Hear explained;
“We have all been captivated by the Commonwealth Games and feel so lucky to have had such an array of talent competing on our doorstep. We had a brilliant time trying our hand at some physical activities and are so proud to be donating the money to such a worthy cause.”
The games are the latest in a series of fundraising events for Highfield, whose colleagues recently spent the night ‘sleeping rough’ under the stars as part of the Childbase Partnership ‘Big Sleep Out’, as well as holding a Platinum Jubilee Tea Party and raffle, cake sales and more to raise money for Bliss, who they have adopted for a year-long fundraising drive.
