Chicks bring joy to Cedar Park

Cedar Park chicks

There were learning opportunities at every turn for children at Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford as they learnt about life cycles first-hand with the help of some special additions.

At the award-winning setting on Bridge Farm Road, children of all ages were delighted to follow the journey from start to finish as they closely monitored living eggs in an incubator, before watching them hatch into fluffy chicks, learning all about the exciting process through observations and how to care for the creatures in their early stages of life and development.

During the unique experience, the chicks were incorporated into a broad range of learning areas to help children build on STEM knowledge, as well as promoting caring and nurturing skills and personal responsibility by carrying out duties such as replenishing food and water.

Cedar Park Day Nursery Manager, Rachael Main explained;

“The arrival of the chicks has been a wonderful experience which has given the children a much greater understanding of life cycles, and they have especially loved being able to hold and gently stroke them. We are committed to fostering a love of learning and exploration in our little ones, and opportunities like this really help to embed knowledge and create lasting memories for all involved.”
