Festivities were well underway at West Downs Day Nursery in Winchester as parents and colleagues marked St David’s Day with a series of inspired celebrations across the setting.
At the award-winning day nursery on Romsey Road, families and staff teams were delighted to be treated to a Welsh brew and lemon cakes to mark the occasion, which honours the patron saint of Wales, whilst colleagues also received a traditional wooden spoon, complete with an embellishment of their name and its translation into Welsh whilst dressed in yellow.
Across the setting, children also showcased their creativity with themed crafts, including making daffodil pictures and discussing why the event is important to so many.
West Downs Day Nursery Business Administrator, Anna Kenrick explained;
“We had a fantastic time celebrating St David’s Day and immersing ourselves in the traditions associated. We love to mark a series of events throughout the year to celebrate the diversity within our nursery community and this presented some brilliant learning opportunities for both colleagues and children.”
St David’s Day falls on 1st March.
