Celebrating service at Pennypot

There was cause for celebration at Pennypot Day Nursery in Chobham as the childcare team honoured their beloved colleague, Lucy Buckingham, as she marked her milestone five-year anniversary at the setting and Childbase Partnership.

Having started at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Pennypot Lane as an Apprentice in 2019, Lucy worked to complete her Level 3 Early Years Educator studies alongside gaining practical experience in nursery, where she now shines as a Qualified Nursery Practitioner in the Caterpillars room, caring for the youngest children at the setting.

Raising money for worthy causes has also been integral to Lucy’s time at Pennypot, taking part in team fundraisers including a climb up Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, all to raise funds for neonatal charity ‘Bliss’, as well as dress up days, charity auctions and food bank drives, contributing to the three million plus total raised by Childbase Partnership for worthy causes including Mind, CRUK and The Trussell Trust over the past 30 years.

To celebrate the achievement, Lucy was presented with a bouquet of flowers and gifts from her adoring team, as well as reminiscing over her memories and career highlights from the past five years, which included being shortlisted for ‘Caterpillars Team of the Year’ in the Childbase Annual Awards for the past five years, as well as picking up the trophy in both 2019 and 2022, with awards presented by Peter Andre and Stephen Mulhern, respectively.

Pennypot Day Nursery Manager, Carol McDonough explained;

“We are so proud of Lucy for all that she has achieved in her time at Pennypot. As well as making so much growth both personally and professionally, she has made an incredible impact on the lives of the families she works with and her colleagues. Her passion for Early Years is truly inspiring and her positive attitude, creativity and genuine care for every child shines through – we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her as part of our team.”
