There was cause for celebration at Westwood Day Nursery in Coventry as the team of Early Years professionals honoured their beloved colleague and Nursery Practitioner, Sarah Mcphilimey, as she marked her milestone 25–year anniversary at the award-winning setting.
Having previously worked as both Team Leader and Deputy Manager at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Westwood Business Park, Sarah has progressed through a variety of roles over the years, shaping the lives of countless children and providing expert mentorship to the staff team, before stepping back to care for her own growing family.
As well as keeping everyone safe in her role as designated Health and Safety Officer, Sarah has taken part in endless fundraising events including summer fayres and food bank donations, contributing to the three million plus total raised by Childbase Partnership for worthy causes over the past 30 years, including Mind, CRUK and Alzheimer’s Society.
In order to celebrate her incredible quarter-century childcare career, Sarah was surprised with balloons, cake and gifts including a bouquet of flowers, as well as being treated to a pizza lunch by her adoring colleagues whilst reminiscing over her favourite memories.
Westwood Day Nursery Manager, Lyndsey Matthews explained;
“We couldn’t be prouder of Sarah and everything she has achieved over the past 25 years, she truly is an asset to the team and we are so lucky to have her wealth of skills and experience. Not only is she a fantastic role model for both colleagues and children, she plays an integral role in welcoming and settling new families and really is passionate about the company and everything we stand for. Whilst celebrating this milestone is a career highlight, having Stephen Mulhern at our annual conference and ball this year was definitely up there. We are so grateful for her and can’t wait to see what she will do next at Westwood.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
