There were learning opportunities at every turn for children at Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford as they marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a series of related activities.
Having learnt about the pioneering activist’s impact through history and iconic ‘I have a dream’ speech, pre-schoolers from the award-winning setting on Bridge Farm Road were inspired to hold their very own peaceful protest, complete with handmade signs and posters embellished with quotes written by the children, including “be kind to everyone”.
The children spread their messages of positivity as they journeyed through the individual nursery rooms and the gardens outside, before discussing their own dreams for the future and the importance of embracing each other’s similarities and differences.
Cedar Park Day Nursery Manager, Rachael Main explained;
“Martin Luther King Day provided so many rich learning experiences for our children and the march was a wonderful way of putting our knowledge into action. They loved showcasing their creativity and confidence that kindness can make a real difference in the world.”
Martin Luther King Day was celebrated on 16th January.
