Ahead of the King’s Coronation at the weekend, children from Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford were delighted to take a walk to their nearest post box to deliver a special letter.
Having learnt all about the celebrations that would be taking place around the historic ceremony, pre-schoolers from the award-winning setting on Bridge Farm Road were inspired to pen their well wishes to King Charles, before making the trip to post it and admiring the patriotic decorations displayed all around the village, even including a duck wearing a crown.
Across the setting, children took part in a range of crafting activities to mark the occasion, whilst learning about the royal family, Buckingham Palace, and the soldiers who guard it. Cedar Park Day Nursery Manager, Rachael Main explained;
“The children were thrilled to write their letter to the King and are very excited to be part of this special event. Not only did this give them a better understanding of the world around them, but was a brilliant opportunity to develop communication and writing skills.”
