Cedar Park Day Nursery children celebrate Lunar New Year
Festivities were well underway at Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford as children and practitioners celebrated Lunar New Year with a series of activities and guest visitor.
At the award-winning setting on Bridge Farm Road, children welcomed the ‘Year of the Rabbit’ by discovering how the twelve zodiac animals were chosen, as well as acting out the story of the great race with dragon props that they had created themselves.
As part of the learning experience, pre-schoolers were visited by Childbase Partnership’s International Education Director, Jeanne Barczewska, who shared her knowledge on China and its rich culture, having helped to support the company’s purpose-built Zhixu Kindergarten for children aged between six weeks and six years in Shanghai.
During her visit to the nursery, Jeanne shared photos and stories from her trips to China, as well as reading the children a story about Lunar New Year and teaching them ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ in Mandarin, before taking any questions from the group.
Cedar Park Day Nursery Manager, Rachael Main explained;
“We have had a fantastic time celebrating Lunar New Year and were thrilled to have Jeanne visit. This was a brilliant learning opportunity for the children as she has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share, and this was a great way to spark further curiosity.”
We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard. All children at our Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery have access to our large, natural garden area on a daily basis as we recognise the impact that being outdoors has on a child’s social, emotional and physical development. The children enjoy planting vegetables and tasting their produce, served by our dedicated Nursery Chef.
