Celebrations were well underway at Hertford Barns Day Nursery as hardworking colleagues celebrated Pancake Day and Valentine’s Day with a series of team initiatives.

To mark Shrove Tuesday, devoted teams from the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Cole Green enjoyed a special pancake station, complete with sweet treat toppings and fresh fruit, which they were able to help themselves to during their breaks, as well as discussing the things they would be giving up for Lent, which follows Ash Wednesday.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day and sharing the love, colleagues also took the time to write a personalised message of appreciation for someone else in the team, sharing what they valued most about their colleagues and the positive impact they had on life at the nursery.

Hertford Barns Day Nursery Deputy Manager, Laura Grace explained;

“We had a fantastic time embracing these February events; indulging in some delicious pancakes and acknowledging the incredible bond amongst our nursery team. The connections we have formed with each other are a reflection of everyone’s dedication to make the nursery the best possible environment for the children in our care and these notes were a reminder of how special a workplace Hertford Barns is.”

Shrove Tuesday celebrations at Brinds Well

Brinds Well Shrove Tuesday

Bananas, strawberries, blueberries, chocolate and maple syrup were just some of the delicious toppings that hardworking colleagues from Brinds Well Day Nursery in Chelsfield enjoyed on their pancakes as they were treated to a special Shrove Tuesday spread.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Hawstead Lane, devoted staff teams were delighted to be greeted by Nursery Manager, Vanessa Lawrence and Nursery Chef, Holly Galley, who served up fluffy fresh pancakes for all to enjoy, accompanied by a serving station of sweet treats and fresh fruits to give colleagues a boost on their breaks.

As part of the festivities, which mark the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent, pre-schoolers took part in a range of themed activities, including pancake decorating, kitchen role play activities and learning about the meaning behind the celebrations.

Brinds Well Day Nursery Manager, Vanessa Lawrence explained;

“Our amazing colleagues always go above and beyond to deliver the best possible care and learning experiences for our children, so we love to make them feel just as valued at every opportunity. This is a small token of gratitude for the immense effort they put into making our nursery an extraordinary place and we had a brilliant time celebrating as a team.”

National Apprenticeship Week at Greengables

The spotlight was on Early Years professionals in-training at Greengables Day Nursery in Owlsmoor as they were celebrated by colleagues during National Apprenticeship Week.

At the setting on Yeovil Road, Apprentices; Isabel Harmer, Mel Dawson, Hollie Healy and Amy Blackford were showered with gifts and treated to a pizza lunch by their proud Manager, Lyndsey Burns, as well as being encouraged to aim for her job in the future.

As part of the celebrations, recently qualified Nursery Practitioner, Georgia Randall, was also visited by Head of Childbase Training Academy, Kara Tuckey, who presented her with a gift bag, reward payment and certificate for her dedication to her professional development.

The ‘careers not jobs’ focus at the company is underpinned by Princess Royal Award-winning training, a full range of leadership courses, mentoring and support via The Childbase Partnership Academy of Excellence, established in 2021 to support all Apprentices in-house as they gain their qualifications alongside practical nursery experience.

At the setting on Hatherley Road, Apprentices; Caitlin Goff and Leanne Tribe were each presented with potted plants and gift bags filled with sweet treats and stationary items to help aid their studies, as well as being encouraged to aim for a job as Manager in the future.

Devonshire celebrate National Apprenticeship Week

Devonshire National Apprenticeship Week

The spotlight was on Early Years professionals in-training at Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick as they were celebrated by their colleagues during National Apprenticeship Week.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Bennett Street, Apprentice; Kelly Kaminski was gifted a bouquet of flowers and a bag of presents, as well as other treats including self-care items and a diary, whilst recently qualified Helena Fernandez-Cuervo received a reward payment, certificate and gift bag, presented by Childbase Partnership Chairman, Mike Thompson during a special visit to the setting to celebrate her professional development.

Having received a distinction grade in her Level 3 studies, Helena is now showcasing her talents as a full-time Nursery Practitioner, whilst Kelly has finished her diploma and is currently working on her functional skills; both colleagues have been encouraged by their proud Manager, Emmy Avery, to aim for her job in the future.

Celebrating professional development at Knowle Green

Knowle Green Apprenticeship Week

There was cause for celebration at Knowle Green Day Nursery in Staines as the team marked the achievements of their colleague on National Apprenticeship Week, after graduating from the Childbase Academy of Excellence as a Qualified Nursery Practitioner.

Having been working at the setting on Knowle Green alongside her studies for the past 18 months, Apprentice; Roberta Eskyte was delighted to complete her Level 3 NVQ in Early Years, which included modules in the bespoke Childbase Partnership ‘Teach to Reach’ programme, which is accredited with a prestigious Princess Royal Training Award.

As part of the festivities for National Apprenticeship Week, current learners; Grace Dalgleish, Sofiya Sayflina and Chloe Rosbottom were celebrated with gifts including a monogramed notebook and pens to aid their studies, as well as chocolates and a keyring from grateful Manager, Chanelle Weaver, who also encouraged them to aim for her job in the future.

Established in January 2021, the Childbase Training Academy of Excellence was created to deliver a centre where all Apprentices are supported in-house by Childbase Partnership experts as they gain practical experience in nursery. The team provide face to face training, conduct in person observations and support learners in achieving their qualifications.

Through an extensive range of bespoke training days, Apprentices gain essential knowledge across all areas of their standard, with topics covered including Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Child Development, Safeguarding and SEND. These sessions are also supported with additional online training courses and resources to instil confidence.

Knowle Green Manager, Chanelle Weaver explained;

“It’s been incredible to see how much our Apprentices have progressed and their enthusiasm, passion and eagerness is so inspiring to see. We are very proud of Roberta and all the hard work she has put in to gain this qualification; she is now putting her talents into action in our Bumblebees room, providing the best care and education for the children.”

Knowle Green Nursery Practitioner, Roberta Eskyte explained;

“During my apprenticeship I enjoyed meeting lots of new people and sharing our ideas, opinions and experiences as a group. I have gained useful knowledge to support me in my role and developed key skills that support my work performance and best practice when working with the children. I am so happy to have gained a qualification and experience at the same time and can’t wait to see how my career with Childbase Partnership develops.”

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Highfield Road, Apprentices; Amrit Kaur, Aisha Ullah, Farina Zahid and Sanya Ali were presented with handwritten cards from adoring teams in each age-appropriate room, as well as a Joules bag filled with gifts from their grateful Manager, Natalie Hudson, who encouraged them to aim for her job in the future.

Cedars Day Nursery - Leighton Buzzard

We prioritise the importance of outdoor play at Cedars Day Nursery in Leighton Buzzard.
