World Book Day celebrations at Knowle Green

Knowle Green World Book Day

‘Aliens Love Underpants’, ‘Gangsta Granny’ and ‘When Elephant Feels Shy’ were just some of the beloved books that inspired the costumes of children and colleagues at Knowle Green Day Nursery in Staines as they dressed up to celebrate World Book Day.

At the setting on Knowle Green, pre-schoolers were delighted to share their favourite stories with friends and take part in themed activities, including delving into story sacks, re-creating scenes from books and making their very own bookmarks, whilst practitioners delivered exciting storytelling sessions, complete with props to commemorate the annual event, which looks to celebrate the magic of reading and encourage a lasting love of literacy.

Knowle Green Day Nursery Manager, Chanelle Weaver explained;

“We believe that nurturing a love of reading from a young age is hugely important and together with our nursery families, we are fostering a culture of literacy and curiosity that will support our children’s development for years to come. We would like to thank all our parents for the efforts they went to in helping bring their children’s favourite characters to life through costume, as well as our team for creating so many inspiring learning opportunities.”

World Book Day is marked on 7th March 2024 and was created by UNESCO in 1995.
