Berryfields celebrate World Book Day

Berryfields World Book Day

‘The Cat in the Hat’, ‘Mr Men’ and ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ were just some of the beloved books that inspired the costumes of children and colleagues at Berryfields Day Nursery in Aylesbury as they dressed up to celebrate World Book Day.

At the setting on Nimrod Street, pre-schoolers were delighted to share their favourite stories with friends and take part in themed activities, including delving into story sacks and creating their very own bookmarks, whilst practitioners delivered exciting storytelling sessions, complete with props to commemorate the annual event, which looks to encourage a lasting love of reading and provide free books to children who may not own one of their own.

Berryfields Day Nursery Manager, Jessica D’Arcy explained;

“Our nursery families and staff team pulled out all the stops with their World Book Day costumes and everyone had the best time getting into character. At our nursery, we believe in the power of reading to ignite young minds and inspire a lifelong love for learning. Storytelling is not only brilliant for capturing the imagination, but essential for aiding language development, building literary confidence and helping us to understand emotions.”

World Book Day is marked on 7th March 2024 and was created by UNESCO in 1995.
